brightnessOur mission is to bring server stability and security to the masses. We realize that not every startup or small-business wants to hire a full time System Administrator or an IT staff because it is not your core business.

Our role is to fill that gap by taking care of your company’s IT server requirements while you focus on your core business.

We provide 4 essential services:

Server Management

This service is ideal for companies and small-businesses that do not have full-time IT staff or a dedicated System Administrator. We’ll take care of all the technical bits related to your server for you – from server provisioning, operating system updates & patches, application servers setup and configuration (e.g. Apache, Nginx, PHP, Python, Perl), Databases setup and configuration (MySQL, MariaDB), Server Control Panels (Cpanel, Plesk, Webmin/Virtualmin), and even 3rd party scripts and CMSes (e.g. WordPress, Drupal, Joomla). We’ll make sure that your server hums along without any problems so that you can focus on your core business.

Server Hardening & Security

Not a day goes by without one hearing about hacking incidences – don’t believe me? Try entering the search term ‘hacked by’ into the Google search box. You’ll see tons of results – often times, the latest incidence being just several hours old. Granted, many of these hacking incidences are done by script-kiddies which merely defaces the company’s website – but the damage to your company’s reputation is at stake. The more serious hacking incidences may cause data-loss and theft of intellectual properties. If you have a web-server or any public server that are accessible from the Internet, you will need to secure it and lock it down.

Email Server – Setup and Configuration (SPF + DKIM)

Email is still one of the most critical IT infrastructure in any company. If you are running a business, you would want an email address in your company’s website, e.g. <yourname>@<your-company.com>  (and not a freebie Gmail or Hotmail). However, one of the main challenges in managing an email server is ensuring that your email reaches your customers inbox (and not in the spam folder). To ensure this, one needs to setup a correct SPF record, plus setup the proper DKIM infrastructure  so that each email that are sent out from your server is correctly signed by your server and not any other machines. The SPF record basically informs the email recipient server the IP address of your server that has been authorized to send email.

Server Backup & Disaster Recovery

Although data is often cited as one of the most important and critical aspect in any businesses today, data backup & recovery is an often ‘over-looked’ aspect.  A recent study by the Paragon Software Group showed that 1 in 5 companies experienced data-loss that caused significant impact to their businesses. A similar research conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers indicated that 70% of businesses reporting significant data-loss go out of business within a year of the event.

Your data is priceless – do you have a proper data-backup and recovery process in place?

Meet the founder

Adrian Ling has been working with Linux since 1996 – both in his professional capacity as a System Admin in the companies he had worked for as well as his hobby during his spare time. He has built a secure Linux firewall (based on the Slackware distro) on a 486 machine in 1998 which served as his company’s main Internet gateway.

Since then, he has taught himself PHP programming & developed a fully functional web-based “Staff Leave Application” for his company’s internal use, built and sold commercial grade scripts used by online-marketers as well as designed and implemented a highly-available MySQL replication across geographical data-centers with automated fail-over monitoring and triggering.

From 2003 – 2015, Adrian provided consultancy and project management to small and medium sized companies in Open Source Technologies – Linux server management, hardening, configuration, LAMP/LEMP stack,  shell scripting, server automation, etc. Towards the end of 2015, he shifted his focus towards education and training.

As a strong advocate for the Open Source movement since 1996, Adrian’s venture into professional training & education is a natural progression in his career to share his knowledge and experience with others. He has taught students from multinationals and Fortune 500 companies such as – IBM, DELL, BAE, HP, Lenovo, DHL, CitiBank, Standard Chartered, ANZ Bank, Melco Resorts, SingTEL, as well as various government agencies in the Malaysia, Singapore,  Australia and New Zealand.  He has also developed customized training courses for clients based on their specific requirements.
